Come knit in session with me! Don't know how to knit? NO PROBLEM! I can teach you!

Did you know that knitting is GREAT for your mental health?

Here's a few reasons why...

  • Knitting reduces major stress and anxiety

    • If you read my "about me"  section, then you learned that knitting is my favorite way to relax! Research has shown that knitting can release endorphins in our brain, which are the natural "pain-relieving and mood-boosting" chemicals in the body. Knitting can act as a form of meditation and mindfulness as it helps you stay grounded and keeps you focused and concentrated, which tends to quiet our anxious thoughts and feelings.

  • Knitting improves mood and confidence

    • There is nothing better than feeling so proud and accomplished after completing a knitting project-- trust me!! In fact, did you know that your brain releases a surge of dopamine (the "feel good"and "feeling of accomplishment" hormone) after we complete tasks such as our knitting projects? It is our brains' way of rewarding us for our hard work! Knitting something tangible for yourself or others can truly feel like the best hard earned gift!

  • Knitting is an amazing creative outlet

    • Choose between all the incredible soft, chunky, colorful, warm, luscious yarn fibers to create something magical! Not only do you get to have fun with picking out your yarn, but you get to decide WHAT you want to make--Hat? Sweater? Scarf? Stuffed animal? Blanket? The choice is all yours!

  • Knitting improves your cognitive and executive functioning

    • A big part of knitting is following a particular pattern or set of directions. Knitting involves several areas of your brain including: the use of both of your hands; fine motor skills; hand-eye coordination and dexterity; working memory while following multi step patterns; and concentration and attention span. The repetitive motions of knitting, along with the mental focus it demands, can improve memory, attention, and problem-solving abilities, potentially reducing cognitive decline.
